Confusion and impossible cancellation
I have a couple of eBay discounts, one for X% (I can’t remember) and one for 5 euros, which can be combined.
I find an item that costs €250 and with the discounts it becomes €220. I try to make an offer to the seller for €230 (to be discounted), he accepts it, but when I go to pay I realize that the X% discount doesn’t apply, so I should pay €225, which is more than the original amount with both discounts.
I logically decide to buy at full price with all the discounts, pay the €220 and the order goes through.
Meanwhile eBay starts telling me that I have an accepted offer, which is considered another order, for the same item I already bought, and keeps asking me to pay for it again.
I ask for the second order to be canceled, but the seller, who didn’t see that I had already bought the item, refuses to cancel; then he realizes it and asks me to cancel it again, but the system won’t let me do it.
What should I do now?
Thanks

Mentore2 years agoYou can't do anything. Only the seller can cancel one of the two orders.

OP2 years agoUpdate: I contacted eBay and they told me to do nothing and wait for the request to pay for the approved order to disappear on its own. The seller understood the situation and they told him the same thing too.
What remains to be clarified:
1) can a buyer take advantage of a valid eBay discount offer, even if the product price was negotiated through an approved offer? If not, why?
2) if the buyer purchases the item at full price with the discount, because it is more convenient than the approved offer without the discount, the platform should notice and cancel the approved offer, without bothering the buyer any further.
