Advice on a buyer who pretends to be absent at delivery
Hello everyone.
I’m asking how I should deal with a buyer who initially asked me to cancel the order, but the item was already at the place and I couldn’t fulfill his request, so I asked him to receive the item and send it back to me later, splitting the return shipping costs. I assured him that once the item was returned, I would issue the refund.
At first he confirmed that he had changed his mind and would therefore keep the item, but on the day of delivery he was marked as absent... I think it was a fake absence... Now I don’t know how the next delivery attempts will go. If he keeps using the absence strategy, how should I behave? Does he deserve a refund? Partial or full? Thanks a lot to anyone who shares their opinion.

OP2 years agoThank you very much for your input.
Unfortunately, I think the buyer doesn’t want to cooperate, they just want their full refund without any problems and without making any requests to the courier...

Mentore2 years agoIf the buyer were a bit dishonest, they would accept the package and pretend there was a non-conformity. In this way, the return shipping costs would also be charged to the seller.
The scenario you are outlining would instead be the one most favorable to you. By refusing or not picking up the package, the buyer would put themselves in the wrong and would lose the protection of the eBay guarantee.

Thanks Mario for the information and advice you gave me.
