Dispute buyer return - damaged product
Hello,
I am a private seller and a week ago I sold an unused boiler (a product as good as new, never removed from the original packaging). Two hours after the package arrived, the buyer contacted me saying that a component (the burner) was defective and asked for a return. I tried to offer him a partial refund so I could fund replacing this ALLEGED defective component, but he refused. So I accepted the return because any decision by eBay would definitely have been in his favor. I have just received the return, and besides the fact that I have serious doubts that the component is actually defective, I have found that the boiler casings are significantly damaged (they are scratched and bent) and, furthermore, water was also left in the circuits.
My question now is how can I issue a partial refund or otherwise ask eBay to intervene? It feels like I keep going around in circles through the various pages but I can’t find a solution.

Mentore3 years agoHello,
if the return is shown as delivered directly in the process, you have no way to issue any partial refund, only a full one.
It makes no sense to have eBay step in, because it would refund on your behalf; you can try contacting support, explain the problem to them, and see what they advise you to do:
Contact eBay | eBay
Kind regards.
