eBay and PayPal dispute
Summary: davferr48 bought an item on eBay and encountered unfair practices by a seller who sent an envelope containing only an invoice instead of the purchased product. After the seller disappeared, davferr48 requested a refund of 246.98 euros through PayPal, but it was denied because more than 30 days had passed. He also opened another refund request with eBay for 1,530 euros for another purchase from the same seller and is asking for advice on whether there is any chance of getting the money back.
On June 23, I purchased an item on the eBay platform. The seller carried out a dishonest practice contrary to the rules in order to bypass buyer protection: on July 9, he delivered to my address an envelope containing exclusively a sheet of paper (an invoice), falsely claiming that the main item would only be sent later, close to the official release date. To date, the actual product has never been shipped. In addition, the seller's eBay account currently appears to have been emptied of all products and dismantled (profile picture removed), confirming the fact that the seller has disappeared and that I will never receive the item. I am requesting a full refund for an item that is significantly non-compliant and incomplete.
This is what I asked PayPal for, for an amount of 246.98, and they basically stonewalled me, saying that since 30 days have passed they can’t do anything. I made another refund request on eBay for another purchase made from the same supplier for an amount of 1530 euros, but knowing that they will contact the seller and get no response, will I ever get this money back? Do you have any experience with this? Have you done anything about it?

Mentore2 weeks agoOn ebay, pre-order purchases and sales are prohibited if the item is not available for shipment within 40 days.
Whether on ebay or on paypal, if you receive a sheet of paper instead of the item, you must immediately dispute the conformity of what you received and ask for a refund.
