Fairness of online auctions
I participated in an online auction to buy 2nd generation Apple EarPods with charging case.
The auction was closing today, January 5, at 14:25 (see Attachment 1.pdf).
At 11:26 I received an email from eBay telling me there were 2 hours left until the deadline (see Attachment 1.pdf)..
At 11:35, that is, after less than 10 minutes instead of 2 hours, I received an email from eBay warning me that the item was no longer for sale, with a mocking phrase "Sorry, you missed out on this item". (see Attachment 2.pdf).
The item was sold for €24.50 (see bidding history in Attachment 3.pdf), much lower than the market price (on eBay it is listed from €60 upwards).
Is it normal for the auction to have ended about 3 hours earlier than advertised, communicated, and shown on the site and in the emails received?
Honestly, it seems like a scam.
Can anyone convince me otherwise?
Thanks
