What does it mean that a purchase that didn’t arrive is returned to the sender?

It could mean that:

they never found you at home
the address you provided was not correct
the address you provided was incomplete or information was missing for your street number, for example the number was not clearly visible or your name was not present or visible

So ask the seller for exact information or check the tracking directly on the courier's website.
