I bought a doll Barbie fron the seller shifayerproducts worth 285 dollars. The seller's page says that customs duties may apply. However, neither the approximate cost nor the responsibility for payment is indicated. I believe that the costs of customs clearance should be borne by both parties. I asked the seller to return half of the customs clearance of 32 euros out of 65. However, the seller was rude and refused to pay. The packaging of the product is also a problem. The doll, worth over $300, was packed in a dirty, torn box with two crumpled sheets of paper, without any protective air film, considering the fragility of the product. I would like to contact eBay and ask for help in partially refunding customs duties, in particular from the seller shifayerproducts. It is unfair to impose the costs of purchasing goods only on the buyer, because both parties are interested in the purchase agreement.

Mentore1 year agoI'm sorry, but purchases in non-EU countries require a minimum of care, and you should inform yourself in advance about what the customs costs are and who is responsible for them.
Up to 150 euros, you only pay 22% VAT and ebay collects it directly on the payment form.
Over 150 euros there are duties, so the carrier collects duties and VAT (with its commissions, sometimes in advance, sometimes on delivery).
Under international regulations, if there are no specific agreements, the place where a distance sale takes place is the seller's registered office. So, in the case of purchases from outside the EU, customs responsibilities and charges are solely the buyer's.
Your request to split the expenses with the seller is clearly nonsensical and will not have any follow-up.
