Customs duties
Good evening everyone,
I bought a product from Japan. When the product arrived, the courier asked me to pay customs duties.
I would like to know whether, at the time of purchase, the seller is required or not to specify the amount. I was convinced that everything was included, and instead it was a bitter surprise. Then I knew that if the value of the non-EU item does not exceed €150, customs duties are not due...

You were right, duties are not due. But you do have to pay both VAT and customs fees.
When buying something in a non-EU country, it is then up to the buyer to import the item into the EU. Customs is their sole responsibility.

Mentore2 years agoGood evening,
no seller is required to indicate import fees for two simple reasons:
Moreover, it is up to you to know that by importing you will not only face duties, but, in addition to VAT, also customs fees and carrier charges.
Kind regards.
