Unreported customs duties in the listing
Summary: The discussion concerns an issue with undisclosed customs duties in a listing. vipena979 started the conversation, and marioelegio responded to it. However, neither contribution to the thread contains any further descriptive details beyond the title.
I sold an item to an English buyer who is refusing to pay customs duties now that the item has arrived at UK customs. This buyer wrote to me very annoyed about having to pay and blamed me for not warning him, when he made the purchase, that the item would be subject to import taxes. My question is therefore: am I to be considered "at fault" for not having made this detail clear? And does eBay expressly require that this be stated in the listing?

Mentore3 months agoI don't think your listing was specific only for the UK and I don't think you indicated the item as coming from the UK.
For these reasons, it is the buyer who needs to know that, with Brexit, all products coming from the EU are subject to taxation.
The refusal to pay customs duties and VAT should correspond to delivery. So wait for the goods to be returned and, if there is no damage, offer the buyer a refund net of your costs and fees.
However, be aware that the claim will be handled by ebay.uk and therefore you will need to be ready to provide all the documentation they ask you for.
