Completely robbed
I put two valuable items up for sale: a brooch and a necklace. Two buyers bought my items. From 3/3/2023 to today, 4/4/2023, I haven't seen a dime, and on top of that I had to pay the shipping costs in advance, and to top it all off the necklace was stolen and I won't be able to be reimbursed. Know that as soon as you have a problem, you won't get any assistance or they'll try to pass the buck. Ebay says it has nothing to do with the couriers, the couriers say that if you lose valuable items they won't give you a dime because, in the rules, valuable items will not be refunded. So while you're going through the shipping process and you're asked whether you want to pay a fee as insurance, know that it's false. They make valuable items disappear and no one can ask for a refund, so the insurance paid for is a load of crap. I'm ashamed for them!! As for me, I will never set foot on this platform again, never again as long as I live!! Moral: they stole money and goods from me and I followed all the rules.

OP3 years agoLong story short: I was wrong to trust Ebay!! It's like going into a restaurant and eating fish, but if the fish is spoiled it's the fishmonger's fault for catching bad fish and not the restaurant owner's. So I thought I'd trust Ebay but Ebay isn't responsible for anything. I thought I'd use the site to ship the item instead I was wrong because Ebay recommends a courier, the courier recommends insurance on the product (which can't be insured) ......I say that I never would have dreamed up a scam like this!! For sure I'll tell everyone what happened to me so that no one falls for it ever again.
Basically, great advertising!!

Mentore3 years agoIt’s not good publicity for you either, since you were an active part of what you consider a scam. You bought a shipping service and took out insurance without reading anything, just because they were sold on eBay.
To continue with the food metaphor: the food wasn’t spoiled, it simply wasn’t what you should have ordered for your particular allergy (shipping valuables). You chose the dish without even reading the menu, and now you’re complaining because you got sick.

OP3 years agoIt's not been just a year but 14 years that I've been selling online and I've always handled everything myself, always shipping valuable items. This is my first experience with ebay and I was wrong to trust it and I'm complaining because the customer should be protected, not robbed!! When you try to sell prohibited items, the request is rejected, but when it comes to taking money out of your pocket, they know all the tricks! Great advertising, for sure!! Also because I used Ebay to buy, and now it'll disappear forever from my sight!!

Mentore3 years agoI'm sorry you're having trouble understanding. The sale of these types of items is not prohibited. You made the wrong choice of shipping service and insurance. Maybe these are services that work well for most users, but they can't be suitable for everyone. Besides, there is no obligation to buy labels on ebay.
The mere fact that you bought the wrong shipping service from Packlink (on eBay) does not make eBay responsible for your mistakes.

OP3 years agoInstead, I think I understood it pretty well.
It consoles me to know who will lose out the most!!
All it took was a quick look at the percentage of negative reviews to understand everything—there, I was wrong not to do it sooner!

Mentore3 years agoI understand your frustration, but if the goods were stolen, what responsibility would eBay have?
The insurance you took out with the courier will have contractual conditions, why are you unable to get the refund?
If your bank account is correctly linked to your eBay account, you should have received the suspended funds (usually for a new seller it takes 15 days). Have you refunded the buyer for the goods not arriving?

OP3 years ago(The insurance you took out with the carrier will have contractual terms, why are you unable to get the refund?)
They won't refund me because they say valuable items fall among the prohibited ones, meaning they can't be insured. In other words: if you want to transport the cart you have to get insurance, after you've paid they tell you that the cart is banned from circulation.
(Did you refund the buyer for the goods not arriving?)
Ebay will compensate, since it kept the money and made me lose my goods and shipping costs. I repeat: I haven't seen a penny!! I only shipped and paid the shipping for my goods!! I lost everything!! Money and goods!!

Mentore3 years agoI'm sorry, but unfortunately that's not how it works, you should have advanced the refund yourself and then ebay, when the suspension expired, would have made the bank transfer. The fact that you forced ebay to make the refund also caused problems with the crediting of the second payment. It's better to read carefully the terms you agree to when you start using a service.
Unfortunately you simply chose the wrong service, there are many couriers that insure jewelry and other valuable items. That's why I was asking you about the contractual terms, you took out an insurance policy without even reading the clauses! You insured a cart using a service where it said that they did not insure carts.

Look, I shipped through eBay so I wouldn’t get the surprise of hearing from the buyer: nothing arrived and I want compensation. I shipped relying on eBay, which relies on Packlinch, which relies on the postal service....all this roundabout way to shrug off responsibility and be able to steal freely!! If I had known these things beforehand, I swear I would never have set foot on eBay!!

Mentore3 years agoWith all due respect to what happened, I wanted to point out that eBay doesn’t ship anything... it’s not a courier... Packlink doesn’t ship anything... it’s not a courier but a broker, so it hands goods over to other couriers.
You could also have looked into the fact that jewelry cannot be shipped or insured... see the following link... point 8:

Kind regards.
