recipient doesn't want to pay customs

Good morning everyone,

I have a problem with a shipment made to Singapore. The buyer does not intend to pay the customs duties to UPS, saying that they already paid the GST tax on the items purchased to eBay. I spoke with eBay support and they told me that the GST tax the buyer paid is related to import VAT and not customs, I explained this to the buyer but no luck, they do not want to pay.

I asked eBay support to step in, but they say they can't because it's the buyer who can open a report (neither they nor I can open one), at this point I don't know what else to do. If I had to pay customs myself I would lose quite a lot of money, but even if the package were sent back to me for unpaid customs fees, the shipping costs would be on me and, besides losing the sale, I would lose the cost of 2 shipments (outbound and return). What can be done in these cases? Do you have any advice for me?

Good morning,

according to eBay rules, if the buyer voluntarily refuses the package, they lose any right to request a refund.

So if it comes back to you, as a matter of fairness, you can refund them only the cost of the item and, if applicable, keep the shipping costs you incurred and any customs charges.

Thanks for the kind reply, so I can deduct the shipping costs (outbound and return) from the refund I’ll make once the material is sent back, without having any problems with eBay, right?
