Wording "the item will be returned to the seller"

How is it possible that in the shipment tracking for an item I bought, the wording "the item will be returned to the seller" suddenly appears?

I didn't request anything and the shipment appears to have been made properly.

Probably the courier had some issues with the delivery. Check the address on your eBay account and ask the seller for a copy of their shipping receipt (also check the address there to see if it was correct).
