Is eBay a meme?
Hi everyone, on the 25th I made 4 purchases:
- 1 phone (condition: new)
- 1 phone (condition: new)
- 1 monitor (condition: new)
- 1 graphics card (condition: new)
Why did I write meme?:
- 1 of the phones wasn’t working, I had to send the item back.
- The monitor is 6 days late from the expected delivery date.
- Graphics card never shipped by the seller (scammer).
But do you think this is normal? To me it’s becoming the meme marketplace of the year.

Mentore3 years agoI’ll add that those phones haven’t been produced for at least 3 years, it’s completely normal that a battery may be dead. You bought the new monitor from a private seller, you know you won’t have any warranty on the product?

OP3 years agoYeah, exactly, putting a “INFO NOTE” that tells you about these things before you press the buy button might help. I’m used to Amazon, so I was expecting something similar.

Mentore3 years agoDefinition of "meme": it is an idea or behavior that spreads from person to person within a culture... if instead you mean the "internet meme": it is an idea, style, or action that spreads through the internet often by imitation, becoming suddenly famous.
So forgive me, but that really has nothing to do with it... I would rather call it bad luck or carelessness when buying... or complete misinformation about a marketplace's rules... yeah... because if you knew how the site worked, the feedback you left is completely useless and certainly didn't solve your problem.
Also, you buy on Christmas Day and expect shipments to be as quick as during a normal week of the year.
So, it is NOT normal to have just registered and expect to understand everything right away and for everything to go smoothly on the first try... especially when buying abroad too...
I say this in defense of all those sellers who broke their backs again this year to be on time and professional, despite the various shipping services always being the worst of all and despite buyers proving to be more and more demanding and exacting with not even the slightest understanding!
There, no one ever takes this into account...

OP3 years agoDelivery times were the reason why I bought it. Anyway, yes, you're right, I'm really unlucky or rather stupid to use EBay 😅.

Mentore3 years agoDelivery times, given the period, were really the only thing you shouldn't have paid attention to... anyway, your point about the "meme" I had already figured referred to an "imitation" of Amazon, but it can't be an imitation, since eBay doesn't sell anything!

OP3 years agoListen, I never wrote about sellers, I always talked about EBay's services, which need to improve both the services offered to sellers and to buyers.
- Let it be clear, EBay cannot set minimum delivery times since they don't have these items in their own warehouses, okay?
- Before letting someone post an item if it exceeds 50 EUR, maybe do a one-time identity check, so that if they spam in the future they can't do it again.
And the imitation of a marketplace is, for me, a meme; you don't get to decide that, just as I don't get to decide it for you. Each of us has our own opinion.

Mentore3 years agoYou can really stay calm... don’t get upset, there’s no reason for it... just as you have your opinions, keep in mind that others can have them too, and since you wrote in a public forum you should also be able to accept any replies you don’t like.
Remember, nobody is born “knowing it all,” so immediately pointing the finger and judging as if you were a seasoned user of years is really out of place... you’ve only been an ebay user for 15 days and you already think you know how it works...
I always say that information is the basis of everything, and “thinking” that something works the way we would have wanted is also definitely out of place.
So, it’s always better to know how things work behind the scenes, and you can find that out by reading the rules of the relevant site... after all, they’re right there to be read.
