eBay deletes justified negative feedback even with photos attached of the item received broken.
Summary: The discussion concerns eBay's policy on removing negative feedback, even when photographic evidence of a damaged item is provided. The participants express frustration and seek advice on how to handle similar situations with eBay customer service.
Good evening, I’m speaking as a buyer but I’m also a seller.
I received an item that was different from the description and the photos: the seller not only left out the fact that the doll was dark-skinned, but also lightened the photos. Also, as soon as I picked up the doll, it broke; vinyl breaks if it’s in bad condition, so the listing and photos were misleading. I tried to find a friendly solution, but the seller brushed me off with a simple sorry, I don’t accept returns.
Obviously I left my negative feedback with photos of the dark and broken doll BUT EBAY REMOVED IT, INSTEAD LEAVING THE SELLER’S FEEDBACK TO ME, ACCUSING ME OF POSTING FAKE PHOTOS!!!
But doesn’t eBay check before taking action? Could I ever have painted the doll’s skin?!? And then why would I have broken it?? I’m a collector, I’ve bought many, and I’ve given and received all positive feedback.
It really seems like eBay is biased; in fact, it protects “professional” sellers, who, let’s remember, become such based on THE NUMBER OF SALES, NOT QUALITY!
Meanwhile this seller sells junk with misleading photos, and probably in the past his negative feedback has been deleted, so he just keeps going because he knows eBay will delete them for him.
DOES THAT SEEM HONEST TO YOU?
DO YOU THINK IT’S RIGHT THAT MY BUYERS SHOULD READ THE LIES OF THIS DISHONEST SELLER BUT NOT SEE THE PHOTOS THAT PROVE HIS DISHONESTY?

Mentore1 year agoMore than anything, it would have been fair to return it to him, at his expense, and be reimbursed as eBay’s procedure provides, whether the seller agrees or not. It’s enough to know it to avoid a lot of problems.

OP1 year agoThis should be the norm, but in reality it has happened to me before that, like this guy, the seller didn’t want to pay the shipping costs; in fact, he didn’t buy the return label, but eBay did nothing. So now I’m left with another broken doll, with no refund and without being able to return it unless I paid the shipping costs.
It wasn’t worth taking on the cost of shipping to the islands, especially since the seller oddly accepted a purchase offer of 17 euros for a doll that normally sells for at least 50 euros and up, even 200 euros.
Obviously now I understand why the price was low: the item wasn’t the one in the photos.
The cowardly act was accusing me of lying; why should I risk my reputation over 17 euros when, as a collector, I have bought so many, each for several hundred euros as can be seen from the feedback from the other sellers?
Furthermore, it is not right that eBay deletes a fair feedback with photos included.

Mentore1 year agoIf you had followed the procedure using the reason that the item was different from the description or the photos, it is impossible for the seller to refuse the return. If they do not cover the return shipping costs, just ask eBay to step in ...... https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers/chiedi-ebay-di-intervenire-acquirenti?id=4701&st=3&pos=1&query=Chiedi%20a%20eBay%20di%20intervenire%20-%20acquirenti&intent=chiedi%20ad%20ebay&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1382
As for feedback, if you express your subjective opinions, instead of limiting yourself to a simple account of the facts, they are obliged to remove it upon report by the person who received it.

OP1 year agoIn fact, I reported the account of what happened, backed up by plenty of photos that by definition are objective, without expressing subjective judgments any more than everyone normally does, like "unreliable seller" and things like that.
Also, according to your reasoning, they’re supposed to delete the feedback I received from the seller too, in which he calls me FAKE, accuses me of having posted fake photos (subjective judgments), urges people not to sell to me, writes ⛔️⛔️NEGATIVOOOOOOOOO⛔️⛔️ with lots of red emoticons right in plain sight that draw attention, etc. aren’t eBay rules the same for everyone?
Especially considering that the seller illegally profited with no consequences, in fact the negative feedback was removed, while I’m left with a broken doll, lost money and the seller’s slander
And it’s not true either that for the seller it’s impossible not to accept the return, we can’t name names here but a few months ago another female seller, already full of not exactly perfect feedback, managed through a little trick to prevent the return process from going ahead, delaying the time to buy the shipping label and using other nasty little tactics, and that time too I ended up with two broken dolls, I had sworn I’d never buy on eBay again and I should have kept my oath considering the level of honesty of the sellers of these items.

Mentore1 year agoIf you ask for eBay's intervention the right way, the return shipping costs are paid by the seller.
eBay removed the feedback because you didn't ask for a return.
And, to top it off, you can't sell all the new items you sell as a "private seller," as you call yourself.
