eBay doesn't give seller protection against its own rules
Summary: amenas-19 shared their frustration about a situation where, despite winning two appeals on an "item not as described" claim and having a buyer's feedback removed, the buyer initiated a dispute with their bank through eBay, which amenas-19 ultimately lost. The item was returned damaged without authorization, leaving them unable to resell it. Despite eBay's rules stating that sellers may be protected under these circumstances, amenas-19 was denied Seller Protection, resulting in both financial loss and waste of time.
After winning two appeals regarding a completely unfounded “item not as described” claim—one resulting in the removal of the buyer’s feedback and another overturning the original decision—the buyer opened the exact same dispute with his bank, which was handled through eBay, and I ultimately lost.
The buyer before the ultimate decision returned the item without any authorization from me, and it was returned damaged and in a condition different from when it was shipped. As a result, I am now left with a damaged item that I cannot resell and will also have to pay for its disposal.
Despite all of this, eBay decided not to grant me Seller Protection, even though its own rules state that a seller may be protected when a previous eBay case for the same transaction was resolved with eBay determining that the seller had fulfilled their obligations.
Does this seem fair to you? Not only losing so much time to deal with the appeals but also losing money and the item itself.

Mentore2 weeks agoThe bank dispute was handled by the bank. eBay only carried out the task of exchanging communications between you and the bank.
It would be interesting for the forum to understand why eBay decided not to grant you Seller Protection, maybe you received some communication about this?
