eBay refunded the buyer
Good morning everyone, I have a problem... at the end of October 2022 I sold an item to a user in Israel, shipped by registered mail. At the beginning of December, the user opened a dispute for item not received. Poste Italiane's tracking showed the item "in transit", sent to Israel from the International Exchange Center. Even though I had provided a photocopy of the registered mail receipt and the tracking, eBay after a few days closed the dispute with a full refund to the buyer.
I then opened a claim with Poste Italiane, and after over a month I received confirmation that the item had been delivered on January 9, even though on "Cerca Spedizioni" it was still shown as in transit. So I checked the tracking from the Israeli Post, which confirms that it was delivered on that date to an adult family member (Delivered to a family member of the addressee over the age of 18).
The buyer says he did not receive anything and that he lives alone, and eBay replies that I can no longer appeal because 30 days have passed. So I lost both the item and the money... it really feels to me like I was scammed with eBay's blessing... obviously I have no hope, but I'm asking anyway whether anyone has had a similar experience and maybe knows if I can do anything.

Mentore3 years agoPoste Italiane does not have an agreement with Israel, so the registered mail cannot be tracked until delivery. See here under tracking that Israel does not appear in the list of countries where the service is trackable. https://www.poste.it/prodotti/raccomandata-internazionale.html
I don't know whether they accept the Israeli postal code as proof of delivery, but evidently (given the outcome) it was not considered valid.
