eBay asked me for a ton of documents and blocked my money!
Hi everyone! I use eBay sporadically and lately I managed to find a stock of about forty products that I could resell for around 17 euros.
After completing about ten sales, this time eBay asked me for documents, purchase invoices for the products on sale (and sold), as well as positive feedback from buyers.
Now this seems a bit too excessive to me, considering I’ve been an eBay user for over 14 years; moreover, when I do sell something, it’s always something over 300 euros, and I always get positive feedback.
Last week eBay decided to block over 200 euros for me and restrict the account for "checks".
I sent the documents and these are fine, as are the purchase invoices for the products, and the feedback will be too (if the users decide to leave it, since the feedback practice is dying out).
Some money is blocked until March 30, some has been processed but is not being paid out to me.
Talking with eBay, they insist that every single user must give me positive feedback, whereas I think that even after doing this and verifying that everything is okay they’ll ban me permanently for who knows what reason.
eBay also never even told me I needed to open an eBay store (sales are still sporadic and when I come across a stock) but I think these restrictions that won’t go away are due to a total abuse of dominant position, rules or no rules.
Do you know how I can solve the issue?

Concluding that eBay allows the free sale of video games with digital codes and antivirus software always in digital form.

Mentore2 years agoFirst of all, you’re a private seller, and Microsoft would never under any circumstances give you authorization to sell its licenses, so let’s say you’d be operating without authorization... also, as a private seller, eBay wouldn’t even give you authorization to sell digital-format items.

Mentore2 years agoPretty sure that sooner or later they'll ban you for life ..... incredible is your total disregard for laws and rules.
If you buy stock solely for the purpose of reselling it for profit, it's not enough to open a shop, but you also need Chamber of Commerce registration, VAT number, etc...
Then as a private individual you can't have software selling rights and especially on ebay you can't sell it with the delivery "Sent via ebay message". The violated rules are many and it's already very strange that they've allowed you to sell like this for so long.
I don't know if they already did it in January 2024, but for sure in January 2025 you'll be reported (by ebay) to the tax agency.

OP2 years agoHi, actually I ship it by untracked mail, and if people then only ask me for the digital code, I sell them only the digital code.
The stock was bought to resell it, but it’s occasional sales. I’m not selling to make 2000 euros, but at least 300 euros every once in a blue moon.
At this point, according to your reasoning, I should also have to pay taxes on things I sold before, like Macs, iPhones, and other things that were mine.
Another thing: you say eBay could report me to the tax authorities, no problem, I pay taxes without any issues, but eBay didn’t ask me either to open a VAT number or to sell through a tax code and declare everything.

It simply bugs me that there are hundreds of sellers selling products like mine where below it proudly says "720 sold" and more

Then it annoys you too when on the highway you get overtaken by someone who’s going faster than you... you chase them going like they do but the Highway Patrol stops you and fines only you and you say "but look, many were going fast like me, you can’t fine me!"
But are you serious... do you know what FAIRNESS is??
If it’s not allowed, it’s not allowed!
