Ebay shipping deserves more clarity on the issue of Packinglink management
Summary: The discussion concerns the need for greater clarity in managing shipments through Packinglink on eBay. brusc5476 raises the issue, while marioelegio joins the conversation. There are additional contributions from brusc5476, but the conversation does not provide any further details or specific solutions to the issue discussed.
I am reporting a situation that I consider absurd and dangerous for sellers and also for buyers.
I shipped an electronic device through “eBay Shipping”.
The shipment was accepted, insured, and delivered damaged
(corner completely smashed, damage consistent with a fall or a violent impact).
Packlink refused the refund, initially claiming:
1) unsuitable packaging (even though I followed eBay’s instructions);
I clearly proved that what they said was not true and then:
2) item “prohibited” because it is electronics over 20 years old.
I find this illogical:
– if an item is prohibited, it should not be accepted or insured;
– it is not right to accept an insured shipment and deny coverage only after the damage;
– eBay presents the service as “eBay Shipping”, integrates it into the selling flow, even though it says it is only a suggestion, and then distances itself from it.
- the rules of this third party that handles shipments should be clearer, the name ebay shipment is misleading.
I also remind you that what we sign and tacitly accept when registering on ebay can in no way cancel out what is established by our civil code.
A parcel with a destroyed corner is not a random event; it is full negligence by the carrier.
It would be appropriate, for everyone’s protection, for ebay to clarify:
– which goods are actually prohibited;
– which packaging is truly allowed;
– why the eBay instructions differ from Packlink’s.
While waiting for the day when they guarantee both the seller and the buyer PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR SHIPMENTS

Mentore9 months agoThe shipping service within ebay is handled by Packlink.
The service is neither mandatory nor recommended; it is just an affiliated service that sellers can freely decide whether to use or not.
The shipping offers a basic insurance included in the service price, but this insurance has very strict limitations. It covers damages only if it is clear that the parcel was run over by the courier; otherwise they always claim improper packaging. Then there are a number of products for which they do not provide reimbursement, the list is easy to check on their website ... All products included in the lists shown beloware excluded from any financial compensation(so you can ship them, but at your own risk).. It is also clearly stated that ... Acceptance of the shipment by the transport company does not imply acceptance of responsibility in the event of a claim.
So to protect everyone ebay (Packlink) clarifies that...

OP9 months agoYes, sure, of course I've learned it now, but I repeat, Ebay can't wash its hands of it even if it's recommended (by them) not mandatory, the information about the whole process should be clearer, idiot-proof! Certainly they have convenient prices and I don't dispute that, considering that if you buy a label everything is tied to the sale on Ebay they should block shipments with prohibited goods and not take the extra money, because if I didn't use the base rate but insured it for the full value, I personally don't find that fair.

OP9 months agosorry, I forgot a piece " Acceptance of the shipment by the transport company does not imply acceptance of responsibility in the event of an accident." this thing is absolutely inapplicable, we have a civil code that also regulates shipments, no clause or wording can override the law, and this is a point that will allow me to take the matter forward in the appropriate forums, regardless of whether there is a refund or not, it may also be a foreign company but when you operate in other national territories you can't do whatever you want
