NEGATIVE FEEDBACK - EBAY PROCEDURE
I had put an important English pipe up for auction (value 150/200 euros) at USD 25.
Only one user took part in the auction and won it for USD 25.
I IMMEDIATELY MADE SURE TO CORRECTLY CANCEL THE ORDER, BEFORE HE PAID.
Ebay told me that the cancellation was correct.
The user wrote to me saying that he intended to buy the pipe for 25 USD; otherwise he would have left Negative Feedback (now I have my first negative feedback).
Ebay's Feedback procedure says that he has the right to leave Feedback only after there has FIRST been a "VERIFIED PURCHASE".
Now, in a sale and purchase in law, the purchase takes place when payment of the price has already been made; before that there is only an expectation of purchase.
I tried to talk to Ebay to discuss the correctness of the procedure and they replied that the user did not want to respond, so they confirmed the negative feedback as unappealable.
Now I wonder what "VERIFIED" means for Ebay? That is, what do they do to verify that THERE HAS BEEN A PURCHASE?

OP2 years agoOkay. You’re right. I accept your conclusions.
My question is still another one:
WHO CAN LEAVE FEEDBACK?
Anyone, even the mail carrier who stops by for delivery?
WHAT DOES "VERIFIED PURCHASE" MEAN?
I mean, when is there verification of a "completed purchase"?
I ask you kindly to go into these topics in more depth for everyone’s sake and to avoid superficial, arrogant lectures about behavior.
At 74, I can no longer stand the "quick-fix" types and those who approach the discussion superficially, when it perhaps deserves a greater mental effort.
I’m grateful to you.

Mentore2 years agoI think the only one who was hasty was you, firing off judgments with excessive superficiality and certifying the correctness of your procedures with no regulatory support whatsoever.
The verified purchase is the one completed on the eBay platform; it does not necessarily mean it also has to be paid for. It is not written anywhere, but you can easily infer it by reading this rule:
eBay removes defects, modifies the late shipment rate and automatically removes Feedback when the buyer has not paid for an order and the seller has canceled the order choosing as the reason The buyer has not paid
So even if the buyer had not paid, but the seller had selected a different reason, the feedback would not be removed.
If they had wanted to mean that the feedback was removed or that it could not be left if the buyer had not paid, they would have written the rule in a completely different way.

It’s your first negative feedback but you also have a neutral one for the same reason, you sell items at auction and if the price reached doesn’t satisfy you, you cancel the sales, that’s not how it works on eBay, it’s enough to set a higher starting price.

Mentore2 years agoCanceling an auction because the desired price wasn’t reached is very UNFAIR.
If you meant to set a reserve price, you should have used that option.
For what you did, you received a selling defect; more selling defects lead to increasing restrictions up to exclusion from the platform.
With the closing of the auction, a sales contract was formalized that bound you to sell and the buyer to pay. You were the one in breach because, with an excuse (a false one, because there is no option to cancel the auction because the price reached is not satisfactory), you backed out.
All in all, I consider the feedback correct. ...... seller has already canceled this transaction on eBay with an incorrect reason

Mentore2 years agoAll nonsense... where do you find it written what you're saying?
If you cancel for an unjustified reason, it's normal to get negative feedback!
Best regards.
