Negative feedback removed
Summary: The discussion centers on the removal of negative feedback. steda_it, cizeta1964 and sika700 participate, but the specific content of their messages is not detailed. The conversation seems to focus on resolving this issue, as both authors interact repeatedly over several days.
Hi, I left negative feedback for a seller with 5 attached photos proving the “scam”.
Ad with photos of an item different from the one received.
The feedback was published correctly, but it was removed in less than 12 hours.
How is that possible?
How can I get the feedback republished?

OP1 year agoI see you keep going on about this, and it’s clear you’re not quite as open-minded as you think.
that said, if you want to be right, then....
...You’re Right .
Good evening

OP1 year agoI forgot... in the meantime eBay got back to me, they don't give any reason for why the fdbk was removed, hiding behind a "for privacy reasons"...
... an utter farce

OP1 year agook, I open the return ...and then?
the fact remains that the seller tries to scam people and that removing the feedback takes away the whole point of the feedback itself, namely to communicate to buyers the results of his transactions
by removing it, it seems that the seller is serious and honest, which is not true according to the facts
otherwise the FDB is useless and might as well not exist, neither positive nor negative
is there an eBay procedure that says it links feedback to the return request?
Thanks a lot
Davide.

Mentore1 year agoYou’ll get your money back... or would you rather leave negative feedback and have wasted money for nothing and let others know... what exactly?
Just because a problem happened to you doesn’t mean the seller is a serial scammer!!!

OP1 year agoYou’ll get your money back... or would you rather leave negative feedback and have spent money for nothing and let others know... what?
-> they’re two completely different things and not connected to each other.
Feedback is for others (as the word itself says)
A refund is for me as compensation. (which, by the way, I could also decide not to request)
It’s not necessarily the case that if a problem happened to you, the seller is a serial scammer!!!
-> exactly as it’s not necessarily the case that he is a serial scammer and that it isn’t just an isolated case I ran into... too bad though that the seller put the same item back up for sale with the same listing, but the item in question is still in my hands ...

Mentore1 year agoAnyone with even a slightly open mind might think it was a human error... you don't have the item that was advertised in the listing, so what are you worried about??
The benefit of the doubt could lead one to think he sent you the wrong item... after all, you didn't contact the seller, you didn't try to mediate with him... but rushed to leave negative feedback.
This is clowning around... users who are not cooperative, who immediately think and shout scam... without thinking about possible mistakes... after all, I don't think you are perfect and free to speak!
Have a good day.

OP1 year agoyou're just saying random things, without knowing anything and treating the rules like customs... on top of that, you even allow yourself to insult...
You, with your logic, are saying that :
1. I did not contact the seller before starting the whole process
2. that I did not mediate
3. that it is a mistake
4. that the item was sent back
5. that I am not open-minded
damn... you're a fortune teller...
unfortunately for you, none of the 4 points arising from your logic are true
in fact you're just saying random things, so much so that look a bit... the listing is online again, other buyers will run into the same mistake because I am not open-minded, I did not follow your logic, which according to you and your open mind is just the universal rules and so ebay did well to remove a negative fdbk that highlights the situation that actually happened and can be proven with facts and not with logic.
Thanks for your open mind and for applying the logic that the scammer is the victim

Mentore1 year agoOf course people give answers by “hypothesizing” what happened... did you describe it?
NO!
You wrote that you received an item that didn’t match the listing... did you check with the seller?
You didn’t write that!
Did you try to return the item because of an error unknown to you?
NO!
Obviously you didn’t return the item... you didn’t bother to do it, and so, probably, the correct item is still in the seller’s hands, which is why they put it back up for sale... could that have happened?
You can’t know!
You decided מראש that it was a scam... who is more open-minded, you or me??

OP1 year agook you're right

Mentore1 year agois there an eBay procedure that says it links feedback with the return request?
No specific procedure is needed, just logic: a transaction is complete when everything has gone well; if that’s not the case, first return the item at the seller’s expense and get refunded, then leave whatever feedback you prefer. Other users will still be notified, but they also need to know that it’s possible to return the item and get refunded, otherwise the feedback is not complete.

OP1 year agoNo specific procedure is needed, logic is enough: a transaction is concluded when everything has gone well; if that’s not the case, first return the item at the seller’s expense and get refunded, then leave whatever feedback you prefer. -> if there is no written procedure that links Feedback and Return then the logic you mention, forgive me, but it’s your personal logic and not that of the whole world.
I can leave the fdbk without a return, I can do the rso without fdb I can do neither or I can do both, in any order.
The removal of the fdbk by eBay is not only wrong but also a hiding of evidence, thus allowing other buyers to run into the same dishonest seller... this is the "logic" of the facts that happened
cizeta1964
Mentore1 year agoeBay's removal of the feedback is not only unfair, but also a way of hiding a fact, thus allowing other buyers to run into the same dishonest seller... that's the logic of what happened
No, the logic of what happened, especially objectively, is when you opened a dispute and were refunded and you reported that in the feedback. It is still a mark against the seller, and eBay and the other buyers will take that into account, but the feedback assessment must be objective, including all the steps of the sale, including the return at the seller's expense.
What you wrote and had removed, you could have written after the whole procedure and it would not have been removed.

OP1 year agowe're not understanding each other...
if it's not written in any eBay policy, what you're saying is just plain talk.
Nowhere is it mentioned that you first ask for a refund and then leave fdbk, and if you do the steps the other way around, then the fdbk gets deleted.
I repeat... this is your personal logic.
explain to me how users are supposed to consider a fdbk that doesn't exist
You read my fdbk and so you can claim it wasn't objective?
I don't think so... because if I hadn't opened this post you wouldn't even have known that that seller had received negative fdbk ... simply because eBay deleted it, "drugging" the seller's overall rating
cizeta1964
Mentore1 year agoif it’s not written in any of eBay’s rules, then what you’re saying is just plain talk.
There is no mention anywhere that you first ask for a refund and then leave feedback, and if you do things the other way around, then the feedback gets removed.
I repeat... this is your personal logic.
What personal logic... The feedback concerns the transaction, and if there was a problem it gets resolved first (or at least an attempt is made, which in your case it would have been) and then the feedback is left, negative of course if the transaction as a whole was negative.
explain to me how users are supposed to consider a feedback that doesn’t exist
You explain to me how they’re supposed to consider feedback that is only partial, because you failed to say that you could return the item at the seller’s expense and be fully refunded (with the defect at the seller’s expense) but you didn’t do it.
I don’t think so... because if I hadn’t opened this post you wouldn’t even have known that that seller had received negative feedback ... simply because eBay removed it, “poisoning” the seller’s overall rating
You could have left the negative anyway, if you wanted to do it before the return you should have made it clear that you could have returned it and exercised your rightful entitlement, but you chose not to; if you had returned it you would still have left the negative, specifying that you had been forced to turn to eBay to get refunded.
These are objective feedback on a transaction, otherwise they are just personal opinions, and eBay removes them.

OP1 year agohi,
the feedback was accompanied by 5 photos that highlighted the issues as well as the different serial numbers. in the test I didn't use insults or anything else, I just limited myself to describing the facts, so I don't understand why it was removed
sika700
Mentore1 year agoDid you read the replies carefully?
Feedback is not the way to solve the problem... if the item wasn't as described, you should have opened a return request, everything would have been on the seller's account and you would have gotten a full refund.
The reason for the removal may have been precisely the failure to follow the procedures.
Have a nice day.
steda_it
OP1 year agoNote: return request for "item not as described or as pictured", just made
cizeta1964
Mentore1 year agoHave you started the return process for a non-conforming item?
steda_it
OP1 year agohi, no, not yet, but this should be independent of eBay's removal of the feedback....right?
sika700
Mentore1 year agoAbsolutely not... if you don't follow the marketplace rules, that could be one of the reasons for the removal.... especially since the feedback didn't solve the problem for you, on the contrary, it made it worse!
Kind regards.
