I returned an item but eBay doesn't accept the shipping code, is that serious?

Today I returned an item I had bought on eBay, but the site doesn't accept the shipping code and responds with the message "internal error". I would like to know whether this affects the refund

It could jeopardize it if the seller then claims they didn’t receive it.
