I sold a perfectly working MacBook
Summary: dha.massi shared that they had sold a fully working MacBook. sika700 replied to the post, but neither reply contains any further details.
I sold a fully working MacBook, I have video proof and a Time Machine backup as counter-proof since it was my personal computer. After about 10 days the buyer complained about a malfunction, claiming that the USB ports didn’t work. I told him that was impossible since I had been using it right up until the day before I shipped it to him. The buyer disappeared for another week, then came back claiming that the MacBook wouldn’t charge; however, the charger is working and he said he took it to two technicians who confirmed the malfunction but couldn’t say what the cause was. So I contacted eBay because the whole thing seemed fishy to me, and it was practically impossible that a laptop that doesn’t charge the battery could be used for 20 days while being taken to 2 technicians and having an operating system update, since I sold it with Sonoma installed but the buyer photographed it and it’s clearly readable that the OS is Sequoia. The phone operator read the conversations and told me that, given the tampering with the laptop between the operating system and the unauthorized intervention by third parties—in this case these 2 technicians—the return request would be rejected and told me to do nothing and not respond to any eBay communication, precisely because once eBay was called into question the request would be rejected. Several days passed until the day before yesterday, when an eBay email told me that the buyer had been refunded and that they would charge the amount to my current account. Now I’m left with the eBay charge, my laptop has not been returned by the buyer, eBay is washing its hands of it because they say I should have responded to the requests, which I didn’t do because that’s what their operator told me to do, and in the meantime I have to pay the installments on the new model for which I had put myself on the line financially because in good faith I would never have imagined a scam like this. Just to conclude, I’ve been an eBay user for 10 years with all positive feedback, while the buyer has 0 feedback and signed up a month before the purchase. What do you recommend I do?

Mentore1 year agoTry an appeal... but if the dispute was closed because of your inactivity... whatever the agents told you... I think it’s a tough one:
Appeal eBay's decision on a return or an item not received - sellers | eBay
