The sneaky couriers?
I’m flagging the strange case of a package sent to me c/o a Fermopoint and scanned as "delivered" by Poste Italiane, but which the shop has no record of (and therefore was never scanned in on entry). No doubt about it, since on the day it says it was delivered (3/1), the shop was closed for Christmas (from 28/12 to 8/1)
For that reason, on the app I have the double label "delivered" and in the bar below "shipped/in progress".
The most obvious explanation? The courier scanned it BEFORE delivering the package and, when he found out the Fermopoint was closed for the holidays, he didn’t cancel it.
Now in this sense I’m much better protected (the Fermopoint acceptance is completely missing) than in the case where the fake courier had delivered it to my house (here the countersignature is completely missing).

Mentore3 years agoNot necessarily.
If the service chosen by the seller was posta1, the postal worker is not obliged to hand the parcel to the operator but can put it in the mailbox (or nearby, if it’s too large) and mark the delivery status as delivered.
We don’t yet have enough information to understand how ebay might resolve this situation and who to hold responsible for the parcel’s loss: the seller, the fermopoint, or the buyer.
We’d be grateful if you could let us know how it turns out and tell us the type of postal shipping the seller had used.

OP3 years agoRegistered book bundle.
So it should be handled like a registered item to be delivered to the relevant person.
For sure there is (and I can vouch for them) that the pickup point could NOT have received anything because I also saw that on those days it was closed for the holidays. So it is not involved. In these cases the postman/courier must necessarily leave it in storage and try again/leave notice of failed delivery.
I’ll wait a few days and then all I can do is consider it lost. I feel bad for the seller of course.
I’d also add that, to be as protected as possible from these shipping issues, sellers should use the eBay shipping manager (that is, Packlink) whenever possible (at least for anything that’s trackable). In case of problems, it’s enough to report it to them and then they deal with the courier

Mentore3 years agoIn this case there is a clear mistake by the seller.
The registered letter cannot be accepted by the fermopoint, an authorization would be needed. In fact, the fermopoint FAQ clearly explains that they do not accept registered letters.
Then the postman's actions are also questionable; the package should have been marked as not delivered and placed in storage.

OP3 years agotrue for classic registered mail (envelopes etc) but not for parcels/book packages. I heard via Twitter from the people at "Poste italiane Spedizioni" and they told me there’s no problem with PdL since they are (by definition) books and not documents.
After their checks at the terminal they confirmed to me that the mail carrier delivered the parcel on that date. To whom, it’s impossible to know, since the delivery location was closed, it’s not possible to leave the registered parcel with anyone else without recording an identity (when they deliver me a tracked parcel for an absent neighbor, the mail carrier records "delivered to xxx"
That said, I opened a report to ebay@fermopoint.it , to Poste Italiane complaints and in the next two days I’ll file a complaint with eBay for a refund. The ridiculous thing is that here neither I, nor fermopoint nor the seller are responsible for the failed transaction. Good thing it’s €20 for a few comics
