Maximum amount to win the auction
Hello. I’m participating in the auction for the item with a maximum bid of €211.50. The auction ends this evening and I’m the highest bidder at €199. The second participant is shown as having bid €50. I can’t understand why I’m not the highest bidder with €51 and instead, if I win it, I have to pay €199. What kind of auction is this, done this way, since the second participant is not shown as having bid €198??? It didn’t say there was a minimum amount to reach. Thanks

OP2 years agoMy problem has been resolved! Basically, my maximum bid of €199 showed up in the auction because I had bid €215. The second bidder was at €50 and I should have won the auction at €51, as per the rule. When the auction ended, I won it and it turned out I had to pay €199!!! The notice "reserve price not reached" did not appear for anyone. But the seller had set it! So the system indicated €199 as the reserve limit. Ebay admitted its mistake and gave me a €100 voucher to settle it amicably. Basically, the seller received his €199 and I paid €51+48=€99. A real bargain for me for an item that is usually worth 3 to 4 times more. Case resolved, so always keep insisting by phone and if you're in the right, you'll get what you're entitled to without losing your own money!

Mentore2 years agoIf you placed a maximum automatic bid of 211.50 and right now you are the highest bidder with 199, there will surely be a second-highest bidder at 198.
Check the bid history by clicking on the number of bids you see next to the price, and select to also see the automatic bids. Above the bids, you can also see whether there were any withdrawn bids.
