According to what does eBay claim that items may be counterfeit?
Summary: The discussion concerns how eBay determines whether an item may be counterfeit. aldebaran24 asks for clarification on what basis eBay makes such claims, but the later posts do not provide any further details or specific explanations.
Ebay stated that a product I was selling was counterfeit. I filed a complaint, but the complaint was rejected! On what basis? My product is absolutely original, issued by the Federal Bank of Germany commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Reunified Germany with the issuance of 5 silver coins of €25 each according to the five Mints of Germany. How is it possible that ebay can’t tell real from fake? Now all I can do is file a legal complaint. Crazy stuff. In the complaint I also presented the folder as issued by the Bank and that didn’t help either. Something doesn’t add up.

Mentore1 year agoThey generally carry out checks following reports from other users. I don't think it's possible to assess whether so many products are authentic or not just from photos, so they act cautiously.

OP1 year agoThanks a lot. But it’s not fair that they keep persevering in the error after my refusal to accept the verdict and especially when it is clearly evident that there is an identical listing the same as my product. Is my listing counterfeit? While the other one isn’t? I’m disappointed in eBay already for the second time.

OP1 year agoDon’t even get me started on what happened to me last year. I sold two gold coins as usual, with proper shipping via UPS, tracked and with signature on delivery. After quite some time eBay told me that the buyer’s payment transactions had not been authorized. I filed a proper claim as required by them, but in the end they denied the claim and I had to refund the payment for the coins they had already received. eBay gave no consideration at all to my claim, but at least the return of the coins? Nothing: I lost both the high-value coins and had to cover additional payments out of my own pocket. In short, an outright scam. The one who is in the wrong gets catered to, while the one who is right gets punished!!!!!
