Incorrect and incomplete shipping address
Dear eBay community members,
I’m reaching out to you looking for advice and suggestions on how to handle a situation I’ve never run into before.
I made a purchase on eBay and the seller confirmed that they shipped the package via Hermes (from Germany). Today we both discovered that the shipping address provided to the carrier is wrong and incomplete, and I’m worried the package may be delivered to the wrong recipient. What’s more - on Ebay the package shows as shipped by DHL.
I don’t think it’s a scam, since the seller (German) has lots of reviews and items sold, so there’s quite a bit of reputation there. But I seem to have understood that he doesn’t have much experience with eBay shipping, as he usually sells locally.
In Italy the package will be handled by HRParcel, too bad I can’t contact them since their offices are closed until Monday. The seller assured me that he tried to update the shipping address on the Hermes website without success, and that tomorrow he’ll call them, since their offices were already closed when we found out.
I’d like to ask if any of you has ever faced a similar situation and how you solved the problem. What are my rights in this case and what actions can I take to recover my package or get a refund? I’ve already heard horror stories where eBay refused refunds if the package shows as delivered, even if it was delivered to the wrong address. I would really appreciate any advice or experience you can share on how to deal with this situation. And let me know if I’m being too paranoid ahahah.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Mentore2 years agoGood evening,
first of all, it would be necessary to determine who made the address communication error: had you entered the correct address?
If the seller is responsible and the package turns out to have been delivered, it doesn’t matter much, ebay considers each case separately, unfortunately there is no certain rule... for example, one of my returns that was delivered nearby but not to me, even though I reported the issue and the address provided was correct... I got the short end of the stick.
Moral of the story, paranoia is never enough...
Best regards.

OP2 years agoHello, I’ve just added clarifications about the address, but I’m replying here too:
the address set on my account is correct (it hasn’t changed for 3 years and I had already ordered through eBay, although only a few times), so I assume the “culprit” here is either the seller or Hermes.
