Warranty info for refurbished item

I bought an item refurbished by the seller and the description said it was guaranteed for 12 months.. after 7 months it no longer works, the seller does not respond to my messages... what can I do now? What actions can I take? and how?

If it was a professional trader in the EU, you can send a formal notice letter (you can find the forms on consumer association websites).
