PRODUCT WARRANTY INFO.
Summary: A brief discussion on the topic of information related to product warranties. Unfortunately, the messages did not contain explicit content.
Hello, I bought a programmable thermostat on eBay, after 30 days of use it stopped working.
I wrote to the seller since I couldn't contact him by phone because there is no phone number on his eBay page; at first he didn't reply to me, then after two days he wrote that he wants the item to send it for repair, so I asked for more information such as the timing, the address to ship it to, a phone number, but no, he doesn't answer me anymore.
I contacted the customer support of the programmable thermostat directly, and they told me that the seller must replace the item under warranty without taking any further steps because there is no service center to send the product to.
I open a dispute on eBay, and they reject it because 30 days have passed.
I am left speechless both about the seller and about eBay.

Mentore1 year agoEbay didn't sell you anything, so it can't help you. Ebay's buyer protection lasts only 30 days because it only guarantees that the item arrives and that it is the one described in the listing.
Ebay protection never replaces the 24-month legal warranty, which a professional EU seller must provide you. The seller is directly responsible for the legal warranty.
Unfortunately, the seller you bought from doesn't seem to have all their details in order; both the VAT number and contact info are missing (details that would be required by law). Among the public details there is only this:
Company name: Melania Fattorusso Address: via vittorio veneto 113, acerra, NA, Italy 80011
This may still be enough for a report to the gdf.

Mentore1 year agoHello,
I'm afraid you bought from a seller who calls themselves professional, but there is nothing professional about them, since they did not include any business details in the listing... which is legally required.
Had you noticed that before buying?
Aside from that, try checking whether you can open a dispute on Paypal or request a chargeback with your bank's help.
Kind regards.

Mentore1 year agoPaypal has reduced the return window for an item not as described to 30 days (from receipt). Only item not received remains at 180 days.
