Info post Ban
Hi everyone,
I’m writing from my brother’s account to try to understand what the real criteria are that eBay uses when it comes to account checks. I’ll try to explain it quickly:
I had an eBay account with which I’d maybe done about twenty buyer transactions, no more, no less (never sold anything). The account was linked to a prepaid card (Revolut) that sometimes acts up when there are too many monthly payments. My only action was to change the payment method to another prepaid card to complete a purchase. Result? The next day I find myself permanently banned without even being able to defend myself or prove that it’s still me. Doesn’t that seem a bit excessive to you?
The thing is, I’m relatively unconcerned about the account, since from what I’ve understood there’s no way to restore it anyway. What I care about is knowing whether the orders I placed will still go through or not. I have one item paid for but not shipped, and another item I bought as a pre-order three months ago that shows as shipped (according to the seller’s policy, since it’s a physical store) but would in fact arrive at the end of August.
In theory, sellers should still be obliged to honor the transaction, right?

Mentore3 years agoGood morning,
I’m sorry to disappoint you, but no, sellers have no obligation, especially if they receive warnings that a certain buyer has been banned.
In these cases, it’s up to the seller whether to honor the commitment they made and therefore ship anyway, or cancel and refund.
In any case, you should still be able to access your account to check its status.
Best regards.

OP3 years agoAt the very least, I hope there's a refund obligation, otherwise this would become a dangerous trap for those who (like me) were banned without a real reason.
thanks anyway for the reply

Mentore3 years agoUnfortunately, even that obligation does not exist... it would become an obligation only if the buyer opens reports or disputes directly on eBay or through the payment method...
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoSomething he obviously can't do if he's banned. This thing is pretty absurd.
Anyway, thanks again

Mentore3 years agoYou’re banned on eBay... but not from the payment method!
Best regards.
