VAT and duties on purchases in the UK

Hello everyone.

I bought an item from a UK seller a few days ago. Yesterday I wrote a message to the seller to ask when my shipment would be sent. Today he replied that I cannot have my package shipped until I agree to pay VAT and CUSTOMS DUTIES.

I have a few questions:

1) is the VAT I have to pay the Italian one? So, 22%?

2) how much are the Customs Duties? I spent a little over € 300;

3) how do I “agree to pay”?

4) how do I pay?

Sorry, but I’ve never found myself in a situation like this.

If you go over 150 euros, duties apply to the total of goods + shipping costs. Generally 3-4%, but they depend on the product category.
Always, VAT at 22% applies to the total of goods + shipping costs + any duties.
Always, there are the courier's charges for handling customs clearance and advancing the customs fees; this depends on the courier and the value of the goods, and on the amounts you indicated fees of around 15-25 euros are to be expected.

Since you exceed the 150 euro limit, you will have to pay the above to the courier.
