VAT and customs duties
Good morning everyone
I bought a used watch from Turkey through eBay and when I placed the order I paid VAT, then upon receiving the package through Italian Post I had to pay customs duties again for an amount very similar to the VAT I had already paid.. but is that correct or did I pay the same thing twice?
Thanks

Mentore3 years agoGood morning,
that's right, when you import goods from non-EU countries, you need to remember that you don't just pay VAT, but also customs duties (for a total value over €150), customs charges (clearance fees) and carrier charges (the individual carrier's costs for delivering the imported product to you).
Kind regards.
