The additional buyer protection fee is paid by the seller when offers are accepted
Summary: nicolamos3 raises a concern about the buyer protection system, which imposes additional costs on sellers when they accept offers on an item. He suggests that the protection amount should be added automatically to ensure that sellers receive the full amount offered, minus the usual fees.
I noticed something that in practice dumps the additional buyer protection fee onto the seller, even though it should be paid by the buyer. If a buyer makes a purchase offer on an item, the amount offered to the seller is automatically reduced by buyer protection, and so in the end it’s as if the seller had accepted a lower offer; wouldn’t it be more correct, as is done with the published listing, to automatically add the protection fee so that the seller actually receives the amount of the offer, from which the usual commissions will then be deducted?
