The buyer is requesting a refund for a delayed delivery with the package still in transit. What should be done?
Summary: stefanommm raised an issue regarding a buyer requesting a refund due to a delivery delay, even though the package is still in transit. marioelegio and stefanommm discuss how to handle this situation.
Good evening everyone.
I would like to ask for your opinion on what to do in the following situation.
An item I sold and shipped with Poste delivery Standard has still not arrived at its destination a week after the expected deadline. The buyer, having bought it as a gift, told me that delivery will definitely be too late and has asked me for a refund for the delayed delivery. The shipment was made within the times stated in the listing and according to the tracking the item is still in transit.
Considering that it is highly likely that, once the refund has been made, the package will still arrive, how should I proceed so that the item is returned to me?
Thank you and good evening everyone.

Mentore1 year agoWait until the last of the three days you have to compensate him, then you’ll be forced to do it or eBay will do it for you (and you could also lose the fees).
For the return, you have to hope on the buyer’s honesty, but the return will be at your expense.

OP1 year agoGood morning, Mario, and thanks for the reply.
Would you be able to tell me whether the return procedure can be done via eBay after the refund has already been issued? Or will I only be able to make private arrangements with the buyer?
Thank you again and I wish you a good day
