account limitations
Good morning, over the last year I sold 576 items, of which 12 sales did not go through successfully because I no longer had the items (I go to flea markets from time to time and in some cases, having already sold the product there, I forgot to update the eBay status by removing them from the auction).
In those 12 cases, naturally, I promptly refunded the customers without opening any dispute. Today I received a message saying that because of this "history" my account has been blocked and I can no longer list items.
Progressively, all my Buy It Now listings are being closed (almost 3500), 2 or 3 auctions every five minutes because they are not being renewed. The agent, naively, told me that when I refunded the customers for those 12 items I should not have canceled the transaction as a lost item but should only have sent them a message to close it amicably and that was it. That said, with this drip-feed of listings closing every few minutes, they are practically forcing me to close the account (since I can't relist the nearly 3500 items in auctions) and all because I followed the correct procedure, which is to close the auction as a lost item if the item can't be found.
But is it possible that this platform has turned into this kind of thing? Has anyone experienced "nightmares" like this? Have a good evening!

Mentore2 years agoGood evening,
it would have been a harm only postponed...
In 4 years you have sold a whopping more than 2100 items... an activity that is completely abnormal for a private user.
Anyway, with these numbers, eBay has already reported you in January 2024 to the Revenue Agency... it will be up to you to prove the origin and the lawful sale of your items.
Good luck!

Mentore2 years agoAccording to the rules, a high number of cancellations leads to account restrictions. You would have only been spared if they had been cancellations requested by the buyer (that’s what the call center operator meant).
There would also be something to say about such sales volumes with a private account, but you’ll have to explain that to the tax authorities, since your activity has certainly been reported to them under DAC7.

OP2 years agoI can't believe it... you're the Mario from the call center!! and now you're trying to intimidate me by threatening me with the tax authorities... brilliant... and anyway, you were the one who told me I shouldn't have closed it as a lost item, but should have informed the buyer of what happened and tried to close it that way...
Thanks for the input, Mario!

Mentore2 years agoMario from the call center isn't answering here, this is a community of users like you.
I wouldn't joke about it too much if I were you, DAC07 is a regulation adopted by all marketplaces, including ebay.
In the community we warn the “reckless” users as much as we can so they can take precautions, but almost always they don’t get it and/or they take it out on whoever replies. That is funny indeed.

OP2 years agoI still don't understand why, when I ask a question about the account limitation I received, I'm answered in a snippy, almost threatening way with remarks about my sales volumes and about DAC07, which has nothing to do with my original question...
well, I still keep seeing Call center Mario despite the different nicknames, and I seem to understand that it will be hard to get different responses in Mario's community...
Have a good evening!

Mentore2 years agoIn fact it's exactly as I said: "they almost never understand".... And we can probably remove the "almost".

Mentore2 years agoBelieve whatever you want, it doesn’t change the substance.
You abused the order cancellation procedure and therefore, as предусмотрено by the service agreement, your account has been restricted. If you persist, it will be suspended.

Mentore2 years agoreflection on my sales volumes and on the DAC07 that has nothing to do with my original question...
That one matters too, though, because before the (mandatory) report to the Ade, eBay starts by suspending the account with sales volumes that are excessive for a private seller...
The Mario:s community can't tailor-made the answers the way you'd like.
