The item is marked as paid when it isn't; no help from eBay.

I bought an item, making an offer to the seller; the seller accepted, and I received the email with the "Pay for item" link. Too bad that when I clicked the link, the item was already marked as paid; same thing when I went into the purchase history.
Trying to click "mark item as unpaid" in the listing summary, eBay returns a generic error and "try again later".
I reported the whole thing, and of course eBay replied via AI, without solving anything. The result? The seller doesn't want to cancel the original listing (for reasons that aren't clear) and I can't receive the item because I haven't paid for it, even though according to eBay I have.
After 15 years as a customer, I would have expected real support from eBay, instead nothing.
No wonder people use Amazon.
