message with a return request from a user who is not the actual buyer
I received a message via eBay from an eBay user with a return request for an item I actually sold a few days ago (a firewall device)
At first I thought it was the actual buyer, the message included the references and photos of the item sold (message with attachment and with a button that links to my listing, now sold), so I was fooled and replied too.
The text from this user says "Hello, as soon as it was plugged into the 220V outlet the power supply burned out, putting the UPS into protection mode, arrange the return or should I open an eBay/PayPal case? Maybe you have a similar one as a replacement"
I replied to open an eBay case, but in theory I could also have continued the conversation and sent him another firewall.. only later did I realize something wasn’t right.
