I received a strange email
Summary: wwill-6lg0h40rgv shared an experience in which, after trying to leave negative feedback for a seller on eBay because of an issue with an order, they received a warning message from the platform. The message said that eBay monitors messages to check for any rule violations and emphasized that only transactions completed through eBay are covered by their protection programs. wwill-6lg0h40rgv is asking others for advice on what they may have done wrong, saying they were not knowingly breaking the platform’s rules.
I was about to leave negative feedback for a merchant who couldn’t ship me the order I had already placed because of their own problems. Obviously what else could I put, negative feedback. I’m about to click, but a message from eBay pops up: "wouldn’t it be better to contact the seller?".
So, naively, I tell them their ratings suck, but not wanting to get them in trouble I asked for their opinion. End of story. Instead, I got a threatening letter: "(we at eBay) We review messages to verify that they do not violate our rules. Only purchases made on eBay are covered by eBay’s buyer protection programs. It is not allowed to ask a business counterpart to complete a transaction outside of eBay." At this point I’d like your opinion if possible. What did I do wrong, what did I sell outside of eBay?

Mentore1 month agoA private message in which a negative feedback is announced in advance can be interpreted as an attempt at extortion. It’s better to use the message exclusively to ask for the reason for the failure to ship and then, if the explanations are not considered sufficient, leave the feedback describing only the facts without getting carried away with subjective comments.
