Item stuck at customs bought in the UK, seller tells me I have to pay the fees
Hello everyone, I’d like some advice regarding what is happening to me; I buy an item from England, today I check the tracking and it says "PENDING
This item is still being assessed by the destination customs authority. If any further information is required before release they will contact the recipient directly" and if I go looking for more details I find that the parcel is in Milan and "problems reported during the verification for release of the shipment. declaration required for release missing". I reported everything to the seller who replied to me:
WE ALREADY PUT DECLARTION FORM ON THE PACKET IT IS C22 FORM YOU NEED TO PAY CUSTOM DUTY INORDER TO CLEAR THE ITEM AND DELIVER TO YOU.
So I wanted to ask you: is this normal? Do I have to pay additional charges on top of those already specified and paid on eBay? How does it work in these cases and how can I solve it? Thanks a lot

Mentore3 years agoOf course it's normal to pay duties if you import items from non-EU countries!
It's something to know, so if information is missing to clear the package through customs, you'll be contacted by customs, you'll have to provide all the requested information, pay the charges, and the package will be delivered to you.
Don't think about refusing the delivery because you'll be in the wrong and you'll lose the item and your money.

OP3 years agoPerfect, I thought the duty was already included by the seller in the sale of the item since I had never bought from abroad.
So in short I just have to wait to be contacted by customs

Mentore3 years agoIn some listings, which use shipping with the GSP program from the UK and USA, the item price, shipping cost, and import charges that must be paid in advance are shown.
On all other non-EU listings, only the item and shipping costs are shown; at checkout, VAT is requested. Then upon delivery, duties (if due) and customs charges are paid.
