Item not collected and the buyer is completely right!!
Good morning,
a buyer bought an item from Germany and never showed up at home to collect it, and as a result the item was returned to the sender.
The buyer then opened a dispute for item not received, requesting a refund. I wrote that I would refund only the cost of the item but not the shipping, but the buyer did not accept.
I immediately asked for support via chat and, agreeing with me, they told me to wait.
After the deadline to reach an agreement expired, eBay sided with the buyer, with a full refund as a result.
I appealed and it was rejected because the item is no longer in the buyer's possession but in mine. (obviously he didn't pick it up!!)
I called eBay twice and both times they told me I was right and that they would urge eBay Germany to reopen the case and that I would receive a response within 24/48 hours... Which never arrived.
Writing to eBay Germany, they insist that since I got the item back, the full refund is correct.
So eBay Italy passes the problem on to eBay Germany. For eBay Germany, apparently it is acceptable for a buyer to purchase and then not collect the package. Does that sound right to you?

In my opinion, you should have tried to appeal ebay's decision, attaching the POD provided by the carrier (proof of delivery) showing: shipping address, package code, and certification of non-delivery due to expiry of the storage period.
