Item returned by buyer damaged.
I sold an item that the buyer says they received damaged (very barely noticeable).
In good faith I accepted the return (in the extremely unlikely event that I had not noticed the damage), however when I received the item, I found another very obvious damage, probably caused by a clumsy attempt to disassemble the item.
I’ll add that the buyer, before their return request, also sent me a photo in the messaging system showing me their phone number because they were interested in buying other items (so outside eBay).
How do you suggest I handle this.

OP2 years agoso if a buyer receives the item, damages it, and then requests a return, the seller loses the money and ends up with the damaged item?
doing it this way, a seller has no protection against any bad behavior by buyers.

Mentore2 years agoIt is well known... for online sales on marketplaces...
There is no defense at all, other than using in-person handover with cash payment...
Best regards.

Mentore2 years agoTo complete the return by refunding the buyer... if you don't do it voluntarily, eBay will do it forcibly if the buyer requests intervention.
Kind regards.
