Item broken by the buyer
Summary: The discussion is about an item broken by the buyer. Both tonifocus79 and marioelegio replied, but there are no detailed contents in the messages, so no further details or solution to the problem are known.
Good morning, I have been a private seller since 2014 with always positive feedback, even in terms of how I package the goods. I sold an item and I always have the habit of photographing the goods before shipping. Once the package arrived at the buyer, he contacted me saying with threatening statements to take the package back and give him an immediate refund because the item was broken, a hinge on the lid. I sent him the photo showing that the item was intact, but he doesn’t want to hear it. I am convinced that the buyer broke it while assembling it, but I mean, is it possible that now I have to lose money and on top of that keep the broken item? I don’t understand why eBay always sides with sellers. Thanks to whoever replies

Mentore1 year agoIt’s not an eBay policy, but a rule of the civil code. In the event of a dispute over non-conformity, you will have to refund the buyer and cover the return shipping costs.
In these cases, it’s impossible for anyone to determine which of the two of you is right; your photos will not be taken into consideration because they cannot be considered real evidence. In the end, any platform and any judge would side with the buyer.
Sorry, but that’s part of the risk associated with distance transactions.
