Package arrived empty and tampered with
Summary: The discussion is about a package that was received empty and apparently tampered with. crixt_10 expressed initial concerns, which marioelegio responded to by reporting a similar issue. Later, crixt_10 replied again, probably continuing the discussion about possible solutions or what steps to take.
Hello everyone. In December I bought a small item from a private seller in Korea. The package was shipped with Rincos, and then it was handed over to GLS in Italy. After a series of strange updates on the domestic tracking (the package was bouncing back and forth from one place to another), it was finally marked out for delivery. The problem is that the courier didn’t ring the doorbell and tossed the package into my garden, which was also caught by the surveillance camera, without giving me the chance to inspect the package and possibly accept it with reservation. About an hour later I notice the package in the middle of the garden from the camera app and go to get it, and noticing that it seemed re-taped I take photos and videos of the unboxing for safety, and in fact the envelope turned out to be empty. I checked from the app the whole time to see whether someone could have touched it in the meantime, but no one entered the garden. I immediately write to the seller attaching the photos, and he replies saying that the weight on the GLS label is different from the original one, going from 160g to 30g (the weight of the item basically). He tells me to file a claim with GLS, which I did, but obviously they washed their hands of it by making the seller responsible for the refund, telling me that he should be the one to request any compensation from the shipper. At this point I opened a dispute for missing items or parts, but the seller doesn’t seem willing to refund me, nor has he offered to resend the same item at his own expense, stalling and giving me vague answers. Now I’m waiting until January 17 so I can finally get eBay involved. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Were you able to resolve it?

Mentore8 months agoThe procedure you followed is correct: returned for non-compliant item (missing parts), then ask eBay to step in.
Then it will be the seller who will try to recover from the courier's insurance.
