Payment by bank transfer
Good evening, a buyer who just registered, zero feedback, asked to pay by bank transfer; is this payment method possible? How is it handled by eBay given that in practice the platform is bypassed? If I don’t accept this method and cancel the sale, could the buyer still leave negative feedback? Thanks

Mentore1 year agoIn general, whoever asks to make a purchase outside the protections offered by the platform does so in order to try to scam the seller. They count on the fact that the seller will feel encouraged to accept because of the savings on eBay fees and the bargaining power they think they have with a bank transfer payment.
The trap (so-called Nigerian) requires knowing the seller's contact info, to which a fake payment receipt will be sent, along with an invitation to ship, in order to unlock the payment with the shipping code.

OP1 year agoThanks for the reply, I had thought that it could be a scam attempt. My doubt was that he might be able to leave feedback anyway; but then thinking about it, if he doesn't pay, and that will be the case because I have no intention of accepting a bank transfer outside the platform, the sale automatically falls through and so does the possibility of leaving feedback

Mentore1 year agoThe sale is only canceled if you cancel it... if you do nothing, for eBay the transaction will appear completed, with selling fees charged.
You have 30 days.
Best regards.

OP1 year agoAs can be understood from the previous post, it had been at least 10 years since I had last sold anything; reading the help, I saw that a lot has changed over the past few years. Anyway, thanks to anyone who wants to clarify the last question.
