Double VAT payment? How to get a refund
Summary: The discussion focuses on the issue of double VAT payment and how to obtain a refund. antcann_15 raises the issue, and sika700 joins the conversation. The participants try to understand the necessary steps to resolve the tax situation.
Hello, I recently bought a replacement part for a car from Japan, in the description it said that I would have to pay customs duties upon delivery and so far so good.
When I bought the replacement part though, eBay automatically added VAT to it, making me pay the “import” charge; today FedEx called me saying that the package was held at customs and that they would send me an email with the fees to be paid on delivery, and among those (I attached the file) VAT also appears, which in theory I have already paid when I bought the replacement part, moreover this VAT is apparently not applied only to the part because it cost 140 euros (about 30 euros) while now it has become 43
Is the tax they want me to pay (the VAT) correct? What is this “error” due to (if it even is one)?
Also, who should I contact to get one of the 2 VAT payments I’m going to make refunded? The seller, eBay or FedEx? Thanks and see you soon

Mentore1 year agoHello,
if you get Fedex to issue the receipt, you can request a refund from ebay:
