payment via eBay bank transfer

I need help because I'm not very used to selling through eBay.
I put an item up for sale. An English buyer asked me to pay via "ebay bank transfer" and asked for my bank details.
I received an email from Chase Bank confirming the payment order and saying that the credit will be made after receiving proof that the item has been shipped. Is everything legitimate, or could it be a scam? Am I not risking shipping the item and never seeing my money again?
