Fake stuff for sale on eBay
A few days ago, interested in a postcard listed for sale on eBay, I examined it carefully; the stamp affixed to it clearly turned out to be fake. Thinking I was doing a good deed, I warned the seller, and in response I received a string of harsh insults. Today, while looking at another postcard, also from the area I’m interested in, I noticed that this one too had the same problem, even more obviously (see photo), and, what’s worse, it was listed for sale by the same seller! The postcard was sent from the province of Modena in 1930 to Riccione; the postmark on the stamp is from Rome in 1938. Obviously, if two clues make proof, the seller’s good faith is lacking. According to the forum rules I cannot publish the name and I’m very sorry about that; certain frauds who are also rude and vulgar are not worthy of belonging to any community, eBay included!
