PayPal is closing my account
We are initiating the closure of your PayPal account
Following a thorough review of your PayPal account, we are initiating its closure to protect ourselves from potential financial losses. You will no longer be able to use your PayPal account.
What will happen to the balance in your PayPal account?
If there is money in your PayPal balance, we will hold it for up to 180 days. We will periodically check your account to release the money. A gradual approach to account closure allows us to end our relationship while meeting any obligations.
We are starting the closure process and need to review the money movements in your account. If your balance is negative, you will need to bring it back to zero or positive to avoid further action.
How will the process work?
We will carry out an initial review to calculate our financial risk and take one of the three actions described below. After each review, any excess funds will be released for transfer. We will let you know the outcome of the reviews.
We will release the full remaining balance for transfer. Please note that if you do not transfer it, we may decide to hold it until the next review; or
We will release part of the remaining balance. In that case, we will tell you the amount you can transfer. We will then carry out another review; or
If we determine that our financial risk is equal to or greater than your available balance, we will not release any amount.
Your account may be reviewed multiple times, for up to 180 days from the date of this email. Any remaining balance on day 180 will be made available for transfer.
How do I appeal?
If you wish to appeal our decision, you can contact us and let us know. Log in to your PayPal account and click "Contact us" at the bottom of the page. Select "Manage my account" as the topic and "My account has been limited" as the subtopic, then send the message.
If you owe money to PayPal, you must add funds to your account to bring the balance back to zero. We reserve the right to recover the money owed through legal means.
You can review our User Agreement by clicking "Legal agreements" at the bottom of any page of the PayPal site. PayPal's authority to close an account and hold the balance is covered in sections 10.2 and 10.3.
Thank you for choosing PayPal. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Mentore2 years agoLet’s say you really messed up to get your Paypal account closed... considering that on ebay you can no longer use it to receive ebay payments, either you’re a frequent visitor to the “complaints” department, or you have activities unrelated to ebay...
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoI don’t use eBay, but I had seen various reports about accounts being blocked and I’d like to understand whether the same thing happened to anyone else

Mentore2 years agoOn eBay you can only use your PayPal account to pay, so the risk is basically zero, unless you keep opening disputes all the time.
Kind regards.
