Why publish an item if the seller then says they don't have it in stock

I placed an order to buy a pair of indoor soccer shoes. The money for the shoes and shipping was taken from me. Right after that, the seller writes to me that the shoes are no longer available and also says that the order was canceled because the buyer wanted to cancel it. This is the worst thing that has happened to me on eBay. But I mean, even the shipping money?
