prevention is better than cure
Good morning everyone, one of the most annoying things that can happen on ebay is a permanent account suspension, since it seems there’s then no way to create new accounts for life.
I also read that these suspensions don’t always happen for serious reasons like counterfeits, items not shipped, etc., but that seemingly harmless situations can be enough to trigger the suspension, since it is presumably all based on an algorithm (I’ve heard of people who were suspended just for having an increase in sales, others even for searching for material belonging to not-so-happy historical periods...)
In this regard I would like to ask 2 questions:
1) in your opinion is it really possible to be permanently suspended for trivial reasons like the ones I wrote, or are these people who in reality committed some wrongdoing but obviously say the opposite?
2) Are there behaviors to adopt in advance to avoid being suspended?
Thanks to whoever replies

Mentore3 years agoGood morning,
to expand on the conversation, account suspension happens after "numerous" warnings and if they are not taken seriously, suspension is the result.
The warnings can be of different kinds... counterfeit item, item that does not meet safety standards and is therefore removed from the market, identical listings... so these are not harmless situations, but serious ones and if you receive several for the same reason, suspension is the result.
As Mario already mentioned, if you are a private seller and your sales shoot up dramatically, eBay first asks you to regularize your situation... if you don't, they suspend you... it's obvious!
So suspension never happens for trivial reasons but for repeating a certain behavior that goes against eBay's rules.
Kind regards.

Mentore3 years agoThe two examples you mention are interesting: the increase in sales with products and/or methods that may not go well with a private account; material belonging to unhappy historical periods whose sale may be expressly prohibited.
When these things happen, it’s always someone else’s fault; the warnings received are never mentioned (the algorithm gives warnings before suspending the account).
