PRICE INCREASES WHEN I CLICK BUY NOW OR ADD IT TO MY CART
I contacted an Italian seller living in Italy and he clarified some details about a product. He is offering a used product, and when I add it to the cart or click buy it now, its value and the shipping value are increased by about 22% (as if they were prices without VAT), but the product is used and is not imported; we are both in Italy.
The seller says he doesn't know why.
Does anyone know what is happening and whether the seller made some mistake in the listing or whether this is normal practice? This has never happened to me with previous purchases.
Thanks

Mentore2 years agoCheck if the seller lives in one of the special postal codes: 21050 in the province of Varese or some border postal codes in the province of Como.

OP2 years agoI can confirm that the seller is from the province of Varese......... have they
become a new nation there too? allow me the joke..... what is it
due to? can it be fixed or is it a problem that remains and is tied to the
Swiss issue etc etc.
Thanks

Mentore2 years agoUnfortunately, this is not a joke, I also live in the province of Varese and a few km further south of that postal code.
The 21050 covers a number of small towns on the border with Switzerland and Lake Lugano, there are some small areas that are extraterritorial and therefore beyond customs. Since eBay is unable to distinguish these special territories, it applies VAT to the entire postal code.
We've talked about it several times here on the forum and it seems impossible to get past this bug.
